More ZR foolishness on route3

I know by now people think I sit and wait at wanstead lights for ZRs to piss me off, but the fact is that these guys do igrance with such regularity, its not hard to catch them.

Here we have one van driving into oncoming traffic, breaking the red light and almost challenging traffic coming over university hill as he seeks a break so he can shoot across.

I hear the association members saying that all not bad etc etc but when I see these displays, endangering road users and travelling passengers I can't help but think that no1 is interested in changing this.

Bathsheba Barbados - Sleeping Giant

Can you see the giant? It's the rock formation in the background. He is
laying on his back looking skyward. Most distinguishing feature is the nose,

Reason Deep on CaribFyah.com

well tomorrow is supposed to be Teisha Hinds, local radio DJ. Am I excited? Well i'd like to hear her answer some of the questions about local artists and the air time they get. I also want to hear her thoughts on imported culture and to some extent turf wars (the latest being Gaza vs Gully in Jamaica).

9pm tomorrow Wednesday at Tyrol Cot or online at CaribFyah.com

it's good to get the practical and demos by a pro. Let's hope I am taking

Reason Deep Wednesday Episode X

Well, I let them convince me to appear on the show 'Reason Deep Wednesday'
hosted by Barbadian Spoken Word Artistes Adrian Greene and DJ Simmons, along
with guest Omar 'Solidus Black' Kennedy and Indra.

Will admit I wasn't too keen on being on camera at first but as I settled in
and the nervousness subsided I got really into it. Strange not being able to
participate in the chat but being live gave me an energy I haven't felt in a
while. I always enjoy the show but to b in the 'hot seat' as it were is a
great feeling.

Bigging up the CaribFyah crew, the host and Indra & Omar.

Boxing - The dumbest sport on earth

Recently I started watching IFL Battleground and I really started to get
into the action. From the artistry of Jiu Jitsu fighters, the all out
brawling, the very technical submissions ... it really began to take a hold
of me, so much that I found myself surfing the You Tube channels and came
across this

Best Heavyweight Knockouts of All Time-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmE4DHPrrnk

...and now I remember why I absolutely hated boxing. It is such a primitive
sport, and the athletes as far as I can see are manipulated, brainwashed
into this supposed life of fame and fortune, but who really wins in these
'sports'? years of having your head purposely and continuously beaten about
makes zero sense to me. Of course I had to try to differentiate between my
new found love in MMA fighting and all out boxing, and the two are really
two different animals. After all, in boxing, you go down and try to get back
up and take more head blows. Surely any right thinking person would see
fundamental flaws in this logic, unless of course you are making money off
the whole charade.

Anyway, take a look and see.

Go ANACONDAS!!!

AZMan mix tape

Taken from Nation News website

'Please pirate our work'

The album cover for the AZMan mix tape. (GP)

Published on: 8/29/2009.

PIRATING allowed - as man!

Yes, you read it right: there is a new CD available for digital downloads which the guys in the four-member group Azman are encouraging people to copy and distribute at will.

If it sounds unusual, it has everything to do with the fact that for the past nine years or so, Azman has been trying hard not to be a part of what has become the norm.

The group has made a business of entertaining people in a 100 per cent Bajan style, through a medium they have called Fling. Fling is a mixture of flowing and singing.

Gardening - Leaf blowers, weed wackers

since i'm here i could as well just mention two things that piss me off . what i call inconsiderate gardening.

i find it amazing how in our efforts to beautify our homes with lush levels gardens fit for 12pm tee off, we practice or otherwise encourage the nastiest habits of blowing the clippings onto the road and into our drainage systems. the general response so far has been, it's only grass. but that only grass is havoc on drains, and generally unsightly if you are ever able to look off your premises.

and then the weed wackers. i always like to site pieces from the bible as it tends to grab people's attention. remember david n goliath? the weed wacker is the david of the gardening world, and i'll let you choose your goliath (examples could be cars, windows and hmmmmmm your eyes also). these little wonder machines are SOOOOO dangerous. imagine cruising down the highway at 80kmh listening to that new daggering style track and doing a small jig in your seat when suddenly *BANG* u have one eye and a truck load of pain. far fetched? lets wait n see.

it's been a while

so i'm still alive for the millions and millions of readers out there who are probly wondering what ever became of me. will try to restart my regular postings of irrelevant pieces floating thru this head of mind.

starting with [drum roll] the fence at IRD.

absolutely brilliant move i say. i mean, let's face it, what better way to solve the issue of loitering, squatting, disturbing the peace, destroying property, wreckless endangerment, verbal abuse or which ever inappropiate behaviour the guys see fit at the time.

i mean lets fence station hill, belle while we're at it. fence the BWA. fence the police interrogation rooms. fence the ZRs.

thaz it, instead of flexing nuts, lets build fences.

here in ends the word according to me.

More shots

I am really beginning to enjoy this photography thing, and as I read more I
really get to understand all the things I was doing wrong. I could never
figure out how to get those sharp focal points with nice blurs as you move
away. Now they tell me it's aperture. And here is my first try and it worked
flawlessly.

Posh peeps!

Int nuttin like people that fuhget where they come from. Not sure how long it'll take for my name to be licking up at the higher tiers but I'm sure they know before you do. I move off the animal (that's cool talk for I drove my van from the car park) today and the spool (equiv to a welded diff) caused the tyres to chirp on the asphalt (not to be confused with Jon King's assssssssphalt), and of course, it caused quite a stir amongst the open diff camry/legend/mazda6 drivers. One retorts 'I better get out the way' and in my mind I'm like 'puhlzzzzz', I didn't beg for an excuse when your crew was auditioning for 'monsters of cock vol 14' so back off.

Moral: he who is without sin cast the first stone.

What we deem important

Sometimes people ask me things and I wonder to myself, what the hell does this have to do with anything? For instance I was asked yesterday if I know X-girl, and my answer was no. The guy was like, but she works in your building and I said nope, never heard of her. He was about to ask again when I stopped him and asked where the convo was going. Turns out this 'bird' is supposed to be the hottest ting since the electric toaster. OOOOK. I certainly didn't give two hoots cause she didn't offer to pay my bills.

Another scenario, girl walks through the office and the cliques go on high alert. So they turn to me and ask me saing like 'wait you see that?' And I'm like what? I mean what the fuk dude??? If it makes your day to sit and whizzie whizzie then fine. I not going rain on your parade, but don't confuse my rass unless you going help me run some of my overdue reports. Schupes

I may be a bit dull at times, shit all the time because the mundane day to day activities which get people heart pumping do little for me, infact most people annoy me (I should probly see the shrink for this as well).

I tired of people speaking for me.

Why do people ask

'ya kno wha I hate bout Bajans?'

Or

'Bajans is the worst because'

This pisses me off. I am a Bajan and I take personal offence when I am painted inappropiately, especially if by a fellow Bajan. It is nonsense. And they site character flaws common to everyone irregardless of race, religion, nationality and/or social class. What causes this? I think its ignoance (don't get all hot and bothered get a dictionary), caused by lack of socialising outside your own kind.. So you see all yours flaws and try to impose them on others.

This is one of the reasons I encourage an on-campus university experience. Travel a bit as well, not just to shop, sit at a bar. Meet people and interact, and recognize that we all face very similar challenges day to day.

'Smooth Criminal' ... remembered

not many persons had the influence like Michael Jackson had. The glove, the jacket, the moonwalk, the lean and thats the old stuff. ya cud list his music, his tours, his controversy, the man touched everyone. definitely the end of a real legend.

Michael Jackson Is Dead, A.P. Reports

So the news guys are confirming that Michael 'King of Pop' / 'Smooth
Criminal' / 'Thriller' Jackson is dead. I'll admit I usually don't care when

Warrens Traffic 12.30pm

I told you guys Warrens industrial is a mess, and I finally remembered to
grab a pic so you can see. Everything here is at a standstill. Expect 1/2
hour or more to get out of Warrens Industrial and up to 45 minutes to clear
the roundabout. Why? Backup can be traced to lunch time back up in the
Manning KFC Chefette triangle of vehicular death. Between cars waiting to
turn across lanes into car parks, drive thru queues snaking onto the main,
and general inconsiderate habits this is what you get.

And no I still have an hour for lunch, so lets say you have to go pay a
bill, it can be over 2 hours away from work. 1 n a half of that sitting in
traffic. Brilliant.

The sooner you make payment, the sooner your shirts will be made deliverable.

Why ask for help?

There are few things that piss me off. but the one or two really get my blood going.

You ever get someone interrupt you from something claiming to want your assistance? And from the time you start assisting they either say they already know, or simply ignore all you have to say and fumble aimlessly around; then when you decide to go back to what you were doing they say you not willing to help?

It is the most frustrating thing in the world to me. I hate to be disturbed when I am working because it takes me a while to get in a groove and stay focused so I cherish the few times I get momentum.

the lighter side of ZRs

These guys are so kind hearted, I mean to reverse into a gap and wait for a
passenger, now that's real service. Don't mind he brought all other traffic
to a halt for a minute or two, afterall, where could we possibly want to go
that's so important. but it's the thot that counts right?

Kite Surfing at Silver Sands

Now this looks cool as fuk. Would love to do it but since I cant swim, nor
surf ... I still to snapping pics.

Beach Clean Up

When I woke up this morning I was about to call off this trip, but I am glad
I went now. Was in an effort to clean up Long Beach from all the litter left
behind from people. It's amazing the number of plastic bags and bottle
covers I saw. And funny enough I got there late. Waiting to hear the final
tally for how much garbage was removed, what I do know is that it was too
much for a single trip on the NCC truck.

Should be an article in Sunday Sun tomorrow.

Please keep Barbados clean. Do not litter.

Reserved -vs- disabled parking

Ever noticed seemingly able bodied persons hopping n skipping from their vehicles parked in disabled marked spaces? And when ya point it out ya either get the "I going only be a minute" or the less formal "kiss my ass" response.

Ever noticed ya don't get those issues with reserved spaces labelled CEO, Gen Manager etc?

It came to a head with me in a recent meeting where I was chastised for parking on a sidewalk, but how can you have reserved parks which are empty 95% of the time, disabled parks which are the first to go daily, and then expect me to take any parking rules seriously? Give me a frigging break.

And this trend is not restricted to one or two places, its all over. Amazing how we prioritize ainnit?!?!?!

Joke: apologies for the lack of paragraphs

BEST LAWYER STORY OF THE YEAR, DECADE AND PROBABLY THE CENTURY!!Charlotte, North Carolina.  USA.A lawyer purchased a box of very rare and expensive cigars, then insured them against, among other things, fire.Within a month, having smoked his entire stockpile of these great cigars and without yet having made even his first premium payment on the policy, the lawyer filed a claim against the insurance company. In his claim, the lawyer stated the cigars were lost 'in a series of small fires.'The insurance company refused to pay, citing the obvious reason, that the man had consumed the cigars in the normal fashion. The lawyer sued..  and WON!(Stay with me.)Delivering the ruling, the judge agreed with the insurance company that the claim was frivolous. The judge stated nevertheless, that the lawyer held a policy from the company, which it had warranted that the cigars were insurable and also guaranteed that it would insure them against fire, without defining what is considered to be unacceptable fire' and was obligated to pay the claim!Rather than endure lengthy and costly appeal process, the insurance company accepted the ruling and paid $15,000 to the lawyer for his loss of the cigars lost in the 'fires'.NOW, FOR THE BEST PARTAfter the lawyer cashed the check, the insurance company had him arrested on 24 counts of ARSON!!!With his own insurance claim and testimony from the previous case being used against him, the lawyer was convicted of intentionally burning his insured property and was sentenced to 24 months in jail and a $24,000 fine. This is a true story and was the First Place winner in the recent Criminal Lawyers Award Contest!ONLY IN AMERICA!

Its not the treatment of illegals that concerns them ...

... it's the treatment of the legals in pursuit of the others.

I think I just now understanding what Gonsalves and Jhagdeo fretting about. It's not that we should be nice to illegals, it's the fact that some legit hard-working honest immigrants are at the receiving end of ill-treatment as authorities (and the average citizen at times) attempt to flush the country of illegal immigrants.

Well if this is indeed the case then, I agree but remember the old saying

In order to make omelettes, ya got to break some eggs.

Don't get me wrong, I certainly am not encouraging ill-treating anyone, but we all have to admit there is a serious issue here in Barbados that needs to be addressed. So there will be some inconvenience.

But thinking of it some more, what really can be done? How exactly do we go about tackling this? Stopping buses hardly sounds feasible. Raiding job sites? i don't know. What's tough about this is that as much as we want to solve this, it's some Bajans that upholding the underground movement, housing them in sub-standard conditions, employing them at sub-standard wages, pure exploitation. So its two sets of people we need to be targetting, the illegal non-nationals as well as those harbouring them.

The Trident - The Centre Of It All

Need to encourage everyone to give The Trident website a look up. Started by one Omar Kennedy (some of you may know him already), it is intended to draw together young minds for free open honest discussion on current issues as well as a bit of fun. It is fast becoming the forum of choice where views contend.

Also have to thank him for trusting me with moderator duties. So come on in, sit back and relax, or jump in the ring and thrash out your ideas, all in a friendly respectful environment.

Joke: Mexican Oysters

A big Texan stopped at a local restaurant following a day roaming around
in Mexico.

While sipping his tequila, he noticed a sizzling, scrumptious looking
platter being served at the next table. Not only did it look good, the
smell was wonderful.

He asked the waiter, 'What is that you just served?'

The waiter replied, 'Ah senor, you have excellent taste! Those are
called Cojones de Toro, bull's testicles from the bull fight this
morning. A delicacy!'

The cowboy said, 'What the heck, bring me an order.'

The waiter replied, 'I am so sorry senor. There is only one serving per
day because there is only one bull fight each morning. If you come early
and place your order, we will be sure to save you this delicacy.'

The next morning, the cowboy returned, placed his order, and that
evening was served the one and only special delicacy of the day. After a
few bites, inspecting his platter, he called to the waiter and said,
'These are delicious, but they are much, much smaller than the ones I
saw you serve yesterday.'

The waiter shrugged his shoulders and replied, 'Si, Senor. Sometimes
the bull wins.

Sheperds Pie to die for

Bet yall didn't know I was a culinary master.

-

You're not my friend just because you say so

I find recently a lot of people have been telling me they really care about me and they are my true friend and all the rest of it.

Wow, I mean they are trying to convince me that I should be eternally grateful for the privilege of having their friendship.

The thing is, I don't feel thankful, in fact I wish they would just leave me the fuck alone. One good deed does not redeem a lifetime of bad, especially when shrouded in deceit.

Consider this guys, when you are in trouble, who do you think of first? They say a friend in need is a friend indeed. I think I understand this to a point, although we may need to differentiate between 'friends in need' and 'good for nothing parasites' as well.

Friendship is undoubtedly a complex arrangement which sometimes I would rather have no part of.

Commish -vs- Commish (ag)

I want to quote a small bit from NationNews website published today May 15th headlined "Rastas: Start with sorry"

Dottin said last month: "I want to state categorically that the police force does not enforce the law by targeting any groups. We carry out our duties without fear or favour and with sensitivity."

Dottin is out of the island, but when the WEEKEND NATION contacted acting Commissioner Bertie Hinds yesterday, he would only say:

"Those comments were made by Dottin, so it is best if he speaks to that matter. I won't be drawn into it."

Now I am a bit confused as to the meaning of this. Is our acting commish denying that Dottin's statements are true? Is it that Dottin's statement is shrouded in some sort of ambiguity that he wants to steer clear of? Is the quote being taken out of context?

The statement seems to be one that all should be embracing so help me to understand why Mr. Hinds doesn't want to be 'drawn into it'.

Swine Flu? It's no big deal. Well not in Barbados at least

I mean after all, when it first surfaced we were assured it hadn't reached Barbados.
Then we were assured that suspected cases were being investigated.
Then we were assured they were being check in Trinidad.
Then we were told the kits to test weren't delivered to Trinidad from PAHO/WHO as yet.
Then we were assured the test were negative.

Now a cruise ship docks with a suspected case, and we were able to check and diagnose everyone on the spot and allow them to disembark.

So I have concluded that the Swine Flu or H1N1 2009 or whatever they calling it now is just a hoax.

You may now return to regularly scheduled programming.

First Day of vacation

Bet yall thought my first day would be much different. Nope, I spent some
time with my jeep and took a few pics around the place. Quite a change to my
usual routine crunching spreadsheets and trying to juggle all my projects.
Ironically I have to be in the office today to tie off some loose ends which
if I leave to the guys in the other building will never get done. Such is
the nature of the beast called work.

Plans for this couple days off? Wanna hit the beach, got a few places of
interest I wanna see, got to spend some time with the extended family,
haven't been treating them well at all since I always seem to be at work or
knock out sleeping.

And before I forget, good luck to all you kiddies setting the 11+ exam. Its
just like any other day, don't let the hype get to you. Relax and do your
best and come out and relax. Next term marks the start of a new chapter in
your life, and no matter where you are its up to you to make it work.

Swine Flu

I dont even know where to start with this, the safest and tastiest offering from the lower levels of the food chain now has 'the flu'. I wish I could doctor them myself and make them all better so we could bake them, or fry, or pickle as we see fit. But now we seem to be faced with a pandemic (prevalent throughout an entire country, continent, or the whole world; epidemic over a large area), oh the horror, the pain.

but seriously though, do you ever wonder where these diseases come from? AIDS, Bird Flu, Mad Com disease, cancer, Alzheimer and now Swine Flu. Is it that it was there all along and only recently manifested itself? or were we always dying from it but just werent able to identify it. Either way, I need to hear from Minister o Health AND the Pig Farmers Assoc, before I eat anymore pork, well except the bit that in the fridge all now. That safe, it needs to be :(

South Coast LightHouse

Went for a drive with the family today and ended up down Atlantic Shores. So
I grabbed this same time. Thinking of going back next week to really overdo
it. Maybe drag along someone as an additional subject.

University - Then n Now

I know for a fact now that I am getting old. It's not just these damn grey hairs popping up from time to time or the fact that I cant bunny hop my bike no more, but my attitude to so many things are changing. Recently I have made a U-turn on my thoughts on a university education. Three things happened simultaneously recently in my life to change my thinking

1. I decided to pursue my Masters degree. Why? Well I have an associate degree which I value, but a bachelors which i am not necessarily proud of. It's not that I didnt work hard to get it but it's just that I realised it wasnt my passion when I was almost complete. However I pushed through and completed. So now I want to get back in, (I take back all the bad things I ever said about UWI) it's amazing to think I would voluntarily go back.

2. Had the previlige of helping quite a few persons with an assignment and I realised that they didnt care how they did it, but the main goal was to pass by any means necessary. I remember when I was on campus hearing stories of people offereing sexual favours in exchange for passes and I always ignored it because I thought my hard work would pay off. Ya know what? It doesnt. It's a dog eat dog world, and I now find myself furious at the thought of people who cheat, lie, steal to get their degrees and then come into the work world useless but at an advantage nevertheless.

3. One of the advantages (and disadvantages) of working in a large organisation is the oppurtunity to meet persons of different nationalities, races, religions, ethinic backgrounds etc. I recently was required to work closely with a guy out of 'the big city' and we talked about work and school and the struggles of growing up. It's often easy to stereotype, but the only way to grow out of that mindset is to emerse oneself in the unknown. Now, I hav an appreciation for others that dont look like me or dont share the same background. Ya know, we are all pretty similar.

so what's the purpose of all that above? who knows?!?!?! I pretty sure I had a conclusion but i fuhget, another sign of the age ... lol

Daggering on MYTv

So CBC has attempted to put on a discussion program on 'Daggering', the new dance craze, well at least the new name. However I have a few issues with this:

1. Why are we so hypocritical? We got blatant sexual lyrics, degrading to women in soca, RnB, alternative ... Pretty much every genre but we don't make a big song and dance about it?

2. Why these so called discussions always have straight laced academics that scared to say the word penis in public and obviously have a stereotype built on persons with children as misfits and failures? Where is the balance?

3. Who gives people the right to start talking about licensing artists expression by prohibiting them to even record and perform their material to a willing audience? That is a really slippery slope there.

As much as I think modern dancehall AND soca AND RnB Is for the most part garbage, I would not want to start thinking about outright bans in private settings. On the radio? Fine, but clubs, studios no. I mean, what next? I can't listen to speed metal? I can't worship Budha? I can't conduct a same sex relation? I can't drink rum? Who decides what is right, damaging to societal ideals?

Anybody wha this is??

Not for the youngsters, this is way before iPods and PSPs, its a spinner (not necessarily the official name). We used to play with these for hours, fight them and see who could pop them first.

Memories ....

Don't Jump!!!

NOOOOooooo.......

New way to make aggregate?

Lil Rick like he was on to something big when he wrote 'Mash Up and Buy
Back', because the concept has been adopted in all areas of society. I am no
road builder so I can't say for sure if this is purpose work but why would
you lay down curb to dig it back up? All through Warrens a whole set of curb
is (or was) being dug up and it wasn't down a month proper yet. I only
remember to walk with my camera yesterday so I got this bit by Jackson
roundabout but it's not limited to here. Simpsons roundabout and heading up
towards the north, suffered similarly. Would love to know who is paying for
this.

What a way to weekend

Camping is one sure way to relax the days away. Fresh air, beautiful landscapes, good food (got to big up KJ on the pickled pigtails) and good friends made for a great overnight in Barclays Park east coast. Only prob now is the rain is down for the last couple hours and my tent seems to be springing a leak. Lol

Damn shame

I really don't understand why people find it necessary to dump their garbage in gullies and tracks when it can be collected at no charge from their residence.

It is the ultimate expression of ignorance. And it seems to be practiced at all levels of society either directly or indirectly by turning a blind eye.

I haven't been paying attention as I should have but the scrap metal trade seems to be the new fuel behind some of these dumps sites. And the environmental double whammy we have to endure is the burning of the garbage to remove plastic insulation and reveal the metal which is then sold to one of the numerous buyers. I don't know how it could be done but I wish there was a way to monitor the sources to these traders and seriously penalize offenders.
