Reality vs perception

Its sad when we enter into business arrangements with persons where the expectation is that they support you in your efforts to serve your customers, and said business holds you for ransom with poor service and dropouts.

I recently had an experience where I was furious with a service provider and after finally contacting company they brought to my attention an unfortunate situation they were experiencing with their service provider and exposing them to the wrath of customers. After hearing the full situation, I felt a bit guilty for the fire and lightning I rained down, but at least they had the opportunity to talk to me. Who knows how many customers they lost in the past two weeks?

Ever had an injury where you were in so much pain you wanted to do something extreme? My knee slip out of place yesterday, and even though this not the first time, yesterday I honestly wish I could cut off my leg. I almost took a painkiller after almost a year of not taking any form of medication as well. I was willing to do almost anything and throw away reason.

Bajan business bad? Maybe!

Those who know me can say I am always up in arms when persons start dissing Bajans. For me, when you say Bajans lazy you saying I lazy, when they say Bajans indifferent, tiefing, etc, it's an attack on me. And I don't think I fall in that category. I am also the first to defend other Bajans.

However sometimes I am forced to question my position, because ever so often you have an experience that is so horrifyingly pitiful, you just want to throw in the towel and start painting all Bajans with the black brush.

So this morning I sitting at home waiting on a 'businessman' to visit me before I go to work. Agreed time is 7:30. At 7:40 I decide to give them a call. I understand things pop up, traffic, flat tyres, nuclear fallout, any number of things. But I hope that if you simply can't make it that you would call and say, 'ye boss, I int mekking it so you can go long to work instead o sitting playing with your ass'

.... But noooooooo, I had to call to find out. Needless to say I will be taking my money elsewhere. Why do some of us take such a relaxed approach to doing business??

All Inclusive, Exclusive and VIP

Ok, this is going to be a short ramble so try to keep up.

What's with these new style parties we seeing. all inclusive premium drinks n food, exclusive guest list, and VIP, yet any man jack (or woman jack) can pay to get in? and the prices are OMFG. there was one the other day where admission was like 200 bucks. yes 200 bucks, and they ran out of ice n cups n food and all sorta tings went wrong. i sure the patrons didnt feel VI after that. infact a lot of them actually ended up crowding the party i attended afterwards where the not so important people were.

but whats th real purpose of these events? is it to separate the patrons from the rest of the riff raff that go to low class parties? are these patrons members of an elite subset of society hence VIP?

nope. its just another marketing ploy to draw in weak minds and make them spend extraordinary amounts of money on garbage.

Mens advice column

Dear Roger,

I hope you can help me. The other day, I set off for work leaving my husband in the house watching the TV. I hadn't driven more than a mile down the road when the engine conked out and the car shuddered to a halt. I walked back home to get my husband's help.
When I got home I couldn't believe my eyes. He was in our bedroom with the neighbour's daughter. I am 32, my husband is 34, and the neighbour's daughter is 22. We have been married for ten years.
When I confronted him, he broke down and admitted that they had been having an affair for the past six months. I told him to stop or I would leave him. He was made redundant six months ago and he says he has been feeling increasingly depressed and worthless. I love him very much, but ever since I gave him the ultimatum he has become increasingly distant. He won't go to counselling and I'm afraid I can't get through to him anymore.

Can you please help?
Sincerely, Sheila

Dear Sheila:

A car stalling after being driven a short distance can be caused by a variety of faults with the engine. Start by checking that there is no debris in the fuel line. If it is clear, check the vacuum pipes and hoses on the intake manifold and also check all grounding wires. If none of these approaches solves the problem, it could be that the fuel pump itself is faulty, causing low delivery pressure to the injectors.
I hope this helps,
Roger

Old not cold

A man went to church one day and afterward he stopped to shake the preacher's hand. He said 'Preacher, I'll tell you, that was a damned fine sermon. Damned good!' The preacher said, 'Thank you sir, but I'd rather you didn't use profanity.' The man said, 'I was so damned impressed with that sermon I put five thousand dollars in the offering plate!' The preacher said, 'No shit?'

Tubby -vs- Stabby

So John Walcott isn't taking too kindly to his work in the character 'Tubby the Guard' being recreated in the party as 'Stabby the Guard', and you cant really blame him now can you. it's pretty much impossible not to try to draw parallels between the two. However, their jobs are totally different. According to Walcott, 'Tubby' is trying to build awareness of our Tourism product and how Barbadians contribute to this, while 'Stabby' pretty much just wants to 'hurt bumpers' for the Crop Over season.

Anyway, follow the Nation Newspaper article in this link ... http://www.nationnews.com/story/295713597785782.php

Blackberry trackball disassembly

I'm sure all o you BB users have had issues with your track ball sticking and generally being a pain in the ass. And your wondering if you should disassemble the unit and try to clean, but of course you don't know how.

Well the good news is that its as easy as getting a knife or small flat bit screwdriver to flick off the silver ring that holds the ball in. The bad news is that it doesn't make an ounce of difference unless you r willing the disect the unit which carries the ball.

My advice?? Stop eating fried chicken and using the trackball. Disassembling isn't worth the effort.

Harold Fry Fish pon Bay Street

they say the best or worst advertising ya can get is by word of mouth (or finger in this case), so here it goes. my cuz been raving bout this fish n chips he get from some man down Bay Street. So finally yesterday he say he carr'ing me for some, his treat. well ya know i is a man that like my belly so i indulge he. land by this Harold (aka Harry) character and there were about 20 people in the line already. Looking around the accomodations were not all that. in fact we were standing in line on a rocky path to the beach. So i standing here watching the guy serve the styrofoam crates and i thinking that my toes burning me from netball and i'd rather be in my bed. So after an hour in the line, the people around me are starting to grumble because, well its an hour we been there. Others popping out of nowhere and getting them food (apparently they ordered ahead) and rolling out. i beginning to get a lil frustrated but the fact that people shifting with 9 and 10 portions got me wondering still. cuz tells me the wait is worth it and i trying to balance that against easing by the little man in de purple hat and waiting two minutes.

anyway, to cut an already long story short, we waited one and a half hours. i sat and opened my crate and the first thing that struck me is that this was enough food to feed a small army. i grabbed a chip, then some salad and smiled. they were both perfect. but now its time to pass final judgement so i tear off a bit of fish, and after waiting a hour and a half, all i can say is.....

DAMMNNNNN!!!!!!!! THAT WUKKIN!!!!!!!

Bay Street by the old fish market friday n saturday. i going back fo sure (but i getting there earlier)

no pics this time, when i bite the fish i fuhget to take the shot :(

In my liming all over the island of Barbados and otherwise, I've realised there are a lot of 'poor' people around. As I am here drinking a banks and tapping away on the blackberry, I realised its not fair to class myself with what I am seiing. Anyway, I love to lime in traditional shops, but I am more and more seeing less fortunate people and its beginning to have an effect on me. Why can't we all be happy? So I decided long ago to help every1 I can, but I vize its an impossible task. Not just because I can't afford it, but some people simply don't want to be helped. So I decided to just help those who I can, and thew others can fuk off.

Got to get the van weigh at the Pine before it fully officially road legal again because there is some mix up witht he engine numbers.

Only real major show stoppers right now is that the wipers nah wukk. got to get that sort out during the week.

MUD DOGS INTO BATTLE AGAIN
Shelbury Construction June Safari promises to be tough

The tough reputation earned over more than 50 years by the Barbados Rally Club's (BRC) longest-standing event looks set to be maintained when the Shelbury Construction June Safari runs off over the weekend of June 28/29. The second round of the 2008 BRC Mud Dogs Safari Championship - the season's most important navigational event - promises once again to challenge man and machine, in much the same way as 'The June Rally' has done every year since 1957.
The start is scheduled for 2.01pm on Saturday outside the ITC building at Warrens, after which competitors face around four hours of activity before the stopover at the Sand Dunes restaurant at approximately 6.00pm; the evening route will bring crews back to ITC by roughly 11.00pm. The Sunday morning restart from Searles, Christchurch, is slated for 8.01am, with the finish at the same venue five hours later.
New entry procedures in place for this event will carry forward into future rounds of the Mud Dogs Championship: entries opened at McEnearney Quality Inc in Wildey last Thursday (June 11) and will remain open until noon next Tuesday (June 24), after which there will be a final chance to enter at the Briefing Meeting, to be held at the BCTSA Clubhouse, Christchurch, at 7.00pm; the entry list will be published thereafter.
Chairman of the BRC Mud Dogs sub-committee, Leslie Alleyne, explained the new system: "All future events in 2008 will have the same arrangement, but there will be a penalty for entries taken at the briefing. Our aim is that, in 2009, no entries will be processed at the Briefing Meetings. There are two main reasons: first, it is an almost impossible task to have accurate information pertaining to Club membership and BMF status when entries are being processed at different locations, also the time involved that evening is considerable.
Alleyne added: "We're looking forward to an action-packed weekend, and I must offer a special thanks to Chris Armstrong and Shelbury Construction for their very generous support of this year's biggest navigational event. I hope we can repay their support by putting on an event that is challenging for competitors and enjoyable for spectators."
The route has been set by Darrin White and Robert Warren, who finished fourth in the season's opening event, the Toyo Tires February Safari, in the Flyin' Fish Nissan Frontier. The route has been re-checked by Kenny Croney and the navigation will be mostly Tulip, with some by the BRC system.
Alleyne noted: "In our efforts to work towards continuing to improve our events, we have recognised the frustrations encountered with vague pick-up points and the BRC system. These items will be addressed and special aid will be available to all novices for the BRC sections. Further information on these points will be available at the Briefing Meeting."

Date change

There has been a date change for the Mud Dogs; originally slated for Sunday, July 20, the July MudFest, which is to be sponsored by Castrol, has been put back to Sunday, August 24. Further details will be published in due course.

Some quik humour

A couple had been married for 50 years.
They were sitting at the breakfast table one morning when the wife says,
'Just think, fifty years ago we were sitting here at this breakfast
table together.'
'I know,' the old man said. 'We were probably sitting here naked as a
jaybird fifty years ago.'
'Well,' Granny snickered. 'Let's relive some old times.'
Whereupon, the two stripped to the buff and sat down at the table.
'You know, honey,' the little old lady breathlessly replied, 'My nipples
are as hot for you today as they were fifty years ago.'
'I wouldn't be surprised,' replied Gramps.
'One's in your coffee and the other is in your oatmeal

Crop Over Prison

so I was listening to Admiral today on his Festival Stage programme [along with Larry Mayers] and he, Admiral, totally went to town on PJ. Basically said that PJ sings bollocks and has always. I got to thinking, supposed we were all that honest when critiquing music, what would happen to people like Ramases, Smokey Burke, de Azam Boss, and who ever sings 'Texting'. I mean this year they are all singing nonsense. I certainly aint no musician, nor historian or anything of the sort, but jeez, Hard Man? what the fukk honestly is that?

anyway ... what do yal think? who shud be sent to Crop Over Prison without chance for parole?

the subliminal message in music

Music has always been very soothing for me, and just like any other warm blooded mammel with access to the internetz, i used to enjoy many nights robbing artist blind. So as my conscience was catching up with me I started buying original CDs with local music [so far I have music by Bumba, Richard Stoute, a few double albums of spooge, Merry Men and more].

I decided to give my pirated stuff one last listen before i destroy it, and its funny how music plays on random, and how it is always so relevant. first was Sheryl Crow singing My Favourite Mistake, then No Doubt with Don't Speak. The irony that these two playing and wha is going on with me now is uncanny.

Well Semisonic's Closing Time is on now and I can't forge a direct link to anyting but I still love this song anyway.

my Blog lousy??!?!??!

Just got a chance to read thru all my comments from my adoring fans [there was 1 so i will assume the rest of wanna had ISP problems] and he/she said the Blog get lousy. well, i will be trying to liven up the place once again.

Coming soon, my indepth analysis of 'Souse - More than a carcass, sweet fo days'.

Also look out for my return to Rally Club Navigational Rallying, one of the sports I truly love.

Politics ... can it really be taken seriously?

well, i not no political guru nor no economists so i try to steer clear of thes types of topics, but I can say I real tired of this mud-slinging from both sides (B & D, havent really considered PEP or PDC). I mean people bout the place suffering and all ya hearing bout is who gay, who horning who and all brand of scunt. I hope that someone will soon raise the level of 'discussion' from out the gutter.

Happy New Year

well, its well into 2008 and a lot is going on already. With our Prime Minister calling a January 15th polling day the air is electrified with political banter.

Just want to wish all a safe and happy 2008.
